HiPP Dutch Formula

HiPP, considered as one of the most desired European organic baby formulas, included a HiPP Dutch Formula, a German formula and a UK version in their assortment. Even though all formula versions are manufactured in Germany and nutritionally complete formulas, based on either cow’s or goat’s milk, they do slightly differ. Different versions exist due to the nutritional requirements in each country.

How does HiPP Dutch differ from other versions?

First, it is good to mention that all country versions are certified organic formulas. In order to be labeled organic, HiPP products must meet the guidelines established by the European Union’s Organic Board. This means that these expectations must be met regardless of its market destination. This means that all formulas are free of GMOs, refined sugars such as corn syrup, artificial preservatives, pesticides, and hormones.

Lactose as primary source of carbohydrates

HiPP formulas are developed after breast milk to bring your little one a milk formula that is as close to nature as it gets. Like breast milk, both formula versions contain lactose, regardless of the country version.

Because of the beneficial nature of lactose, all HiPP Dutch formulas use lactose as the only carbohydrate source and are starch-free. At the same time, this is the main difference between HiPP Dutch and HiPP German, as the German version contains starch as a secondary carbohydrate in stage 1 through stage 3 formulas (except for HiPP German Stage 2 No starch).

Starch in formula

For most babies, especially those aged 6 months+, there’s nothing wrong with starch in formula. Once they start to eat solid food, most babies will be eating starch in foods like potato and rice, and their stomachs will have matured enough that they generally won’t have any problems digesting it. But some younger babies will struggle with starch – which is why many parents choose to avoid it.

Sunflower lecithin

The second difference in formulas is the use of sunflower lecithin as an emulsifier in HiPP German Stage 2 formula, which HiPP Dutch Formula does not have. The inclusion of an organic emulsifier in baby formula is a concern for some parents, since it can be sourced from soy, but there’s nothing to fear when it comes to sunflower lecithin. It's commonly used in baby formula to help stabilize and thicken the milk.

Packaging differences

The first difference that any parent will notice with Dutch Hipp Formula is the packages. HiPP Dutch Formula is sold in 800g cans, while for the German version, the packaging are 600g boxes with sachets inside. This means that the market price for HiPP Dutch Formula will usually appear higher than other HiPP formulas, but it only reflects the larger quantity. Some parents prefer the container over the box. HiPP UK Formulas are being sold in 800g boxes with sachets inside.

Dutch HiPP formula goat milk

Compared to both German and UK versions of baby formulas, the Dutch formula range also contains a goat milk version of Stage 1-, 2- and 3 formulas. HiPP Dutch Goat is based on 100% organic ingredients, including organic goat milk with the A2 beta-casein milk protein. Goat milk is a great substitute for parents who have a baby that struggles with traditional cow’s milk formulas. The A2 milk protein found in Goat Milk formula is a smaller protein that can be digested easier.

HiPP Dutch Formula stages

HiPP offers an extensive range of organic baby formulas, sold on myorganicformula.com. Like many other brands, Dutch HiPP formulas are categorized into different stages according to the age of your child. The reason behind the different stages is to reflect the infant’s nutritional needs human milk can respond to automatically. To ensure your child gets the correct amount of nutrients, it is highly recommended to feed a formula which suits the age of your little one.

HiPP Dutch stage 1

HiPP Dutch Stage 1 Combiotic Infant Milk Formula is commonly rated as one of the most favorite organic formulas and is perfect for infants from birth to the age of six months. This formula can be used as a complete breast milk substitute for exclusively formula-fed babies or as a supplement to natural breast milk.

HiPP stage 1 Dutch goat formula

HiPP’s goat’s milk formula is made from nutritious organic goat’s milk. Easier to digest than cow’s milk, it’s naturally closer to breastmilk – the perfect choice for babies with sensitive tummies.

HiPP Dutch stage 2

HiPP Dutch stage 2 follow-on formula is meant for babies aged 6-12 months. The newest version of HiPP Stage 2 Dutch includes Metafolin® to help prevent folate deficiency. The major benefit of Metafolin® is that it has greater bioavailability which allows your baby to metabolize it immediately. Unlike folic acid which has to be converted into folate by the body first before it can be absorbed.

HiPP stage 2 Dutch goat formula

HiPP Goat Stage 2 is ideal for babies who struggle to digest cow’s milk formulas. Like all HiPP Dutch formulas, HiPP Goat is sustainably produced in Germany using milk from happy, pasture-raised animals, backed by the HiPP family’s generations of organic farming knowledge.

HiPP Dutch stage 3

HiPP Dutch Stage 3 Combiotic Toddler Formula is lactose-rich formula based on organic skim milk, intended for babies aged 12+ months. Dutch HiPP Stage 3 is completely organic based on cow's milk. For added nutrition HiPP Dutch Stage 3 contains both prebiotics and probiotics that help mature your baby's stomach in a similar way that breast milk would develop a baby's gut.

This formula is perfect for transitioning babies off of breast milk, as an ongoing supplement to breast milk, or for babies that have previously been on HiPP Dutch Stage 1 and HiPP Dutch Stage 2.

HiPP stage 3 Dutch goat formula

To promote healthy bone development, HiPP Dutch Goat Stage 3 is enriched with additional calcium. This clean formula also contains prebiotics and lactose-based galacto-oligossacharides that help boost your toddler's gut microbiome and supports a stronger immune system. To help with eye and brain development, HiPP Dutch Goat Stage 3 contains naturally occurring ALA and DHA Omega 3, unlike many other comparable goat milk formulas.

Order Dutch HiPP Formula online

We are one of the largest, if not the largest, supplier of HiPP Dutch Formula for parents around the world, with a strong focus on Canada. Dutch HiPP formula isn’t always widely available in Canada, which is a gap we jumped into. Even when it is available, it could be way more expensive than letting it ship from Europe through myorganicformula.com. We understand that you don’t want to run out on formula, so that’s why we offer subscriptions and bundle deals, which is convenient and saves you money!
