Is this product right for my baby?
HiPP DE Stage 2 is for babies aged from 6-10 months, either as a supplement to breastmilk or a complete replacement, alongside solid food.
It contains prebiotics and probiotics, including lactic acid cultures originally derived from breastmilk, to help your baby develop their natural gut balance.
It’s free of added sugar and maltodextrin, which many babies find difficult to break down, and includes only easy-to-digest mild organic starch to make it extra creamy and filling.
We know that babies are often picky eaters, so if you find that your baby doesn’t like HiPP DE Stage 2, just let us know and we’ll give you a store credit so you can choose another brand.

How to prepare and store
Step 1:
Boil fresh drinking water and allow it to cool to approx. 40–50 °C.*
Step 2:
Pour the desired amount of boiled water (see feeding table) into a feeding bottle.
Step 3:
Measure the recommended amount of powder (see feeding table). Fill the scoop loosely and level it off. Add the powder to the water.
Step 4:
Close the bottle and shake vigorously several times.
Step 5:
Cool to drinking temperature (approx. 37 °C). Check the temperature.
*To avoid damaging the natural lactic acid cultures, do not prepare the formula with water that is too hot.
1 level scoop = approx. 4.5 g. Standard preparation: 13.5 g powder + 90 ml water = 100 ml of ready-to-drink formula. One scoop of powder needs 30 ml of water. One pack makes 44 bottles of 100 ml. Babies need approx. 5 meals a day; with every new, fully introduced complementary meal, one bottle feed should be dropped. Every baby is different: the amounts and number of feeds per day are guidelines only, and your baby does not have to finish the bottle.
Care Instructions:
- Follow the instructions exactly; improper preparation and storage of the prepared formula can harm your baby's health, e.g. through the growth of undesirable germs
- Prepare the formula freshly before every meal and feed immediately; do not reuse leftovers
- Use only the enclosed measuring scoop
- Clean bottle, teat and ring thoroughly
- Do not heat the formula in the microwave (risk of scalding)
- Reseal the opened bag well after use, store dry at room temperature and use within 3 weeks

What age is HiPP German Stage 2 for?
HiPP German Stage 2 is a follow-on milk for babies from 6 months, alongside solid foods. From 10 months, move on to HiPP German Stage 3.
Is HiPP German Stage 2 right for my baby?
HiPP German Stage 2 is a complete follow-on milk for healthy babies from 6 months, designed to sit alongside a growing weaning diet. It contains organic starch alongside lactose, which makes it more filling. If you would rather avoid starch, we also stock HiPP German Stage 2 No Starch. If your baby has a diagnosed food allergy, speak to your paediatrician before choosing a formula.
Does HiPP German Stage 2 contain GMOs, pesticides or hormones?
No. HiPP German Stage 2 is EU organic certified and made without GMOs, synthetic pesticides, herbicides, added hormones or antibiotics. Added sugars such as corn syrup, glucose syrup and sucrose are never used in HiPP formula.
Is HiPP German Stage 2 gluten-free and soy-free?
Yes. HiPP German Stage 2 is gluten-free, wheat-free, soy-free and peanut-free.
Does HiPP German Stage 2 contain starch or maltodextrin?
It contains organic starch, but no maltodextrin. Starch makes the formula thicker and more filling, which suits many babies from six months. If your baby digests starch less easily, HiPP German Stage 2 No Starch is the same recipe without it.
Does HiPP German Stage 2 contain DHA?
Yes. DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid that contributes to normal visual development in infants up to twelve months. HiPP German Stage 2 also contains higher iron levels than Stage 1 to support your growing baby.
Does HiPP German Stage 2 contain probiotics?
Yes. HiPP German contains natural lactic acid cultures originally derived from breast milk, alongside prebiotic fibres (GOS). HiPP UK does not contain probiotics.
How is HiPP German different from HiPP Dutch and HiPP UK?
All three are made in Germany and EU organic certified. HiPP German has the widest stage range, from Pre to Stage 4, and most stages include organic starch, which makes them more filling. HiPP Dutch is lactose-only and starch-free throughout. HiPP UK is the British recipe, starch-free but without probiotics.
How many bottles does one box of HiPP German Stage 2 make?
Each box contains 600 g of powder and makes approximately 4.5 litres (155 fl oz) of prepared formula — around 22 bottles of 200 ml. Follow the preparation instructions on the pack.
How many boxes of HiPP German Stage 2 do I need per month?
If formula is your baby's only milk, expect around 5 boxes a month at six months, dropping to about 4 once solid foods become a real part of the diet. Every baby is different, so treat this as a guide.
Which stage comes after HiPP German Stage 2?
HiPP German Stage 3, from 10 months onwards.
